On some servers running WHM/Cpanel you may recieve complaints of mail being bounced back from your own server. The messages from Cpanel will be similar to:
- PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 9): 550- "The recipient cannot be verified."
Please check all recipients of this 550 message to verify they are valid. If this is occurring, you will need to check your exim_mainlog file for entries similar to the following:
- H=(nf-out-0910.google.com) [IP] F=<firstname.lastname@example.org> rejected RCPT <emailAccount@domainName>: No Such User Here
To solve this, first verify that the actual email account exists on your server. Once you have verified it does exist, run these Cpanel scripts to correct the problem:
Next, check the /etc/localdomains file and make sure the domain name exists. Finally, make sure the DNS syntax in /var/cpanel/user/username contains the domain in question.
