You may make changes to Configurations from this screen.
- Sign in to the Client Portal.
- Open the Manage mega menu.
- Click VM Configurations in the Public Cloud section.
- Click on the name of a Configuration you wish to modify.
- Click the Edit icon at the top-right of the screen.
- Make changes to any of the following fields, if desired:
- Name. No spaces and/or special characters are allowed in the Configuration name.
- Power Status. Use the slider to choose On if you wish VM to be powered on immediately, or Off if you are creating the VM for later use, but do not need it to be powered on right away. Simply clicking the slider will toggle it from its current setting to the alternate setting.
- OS & Version. Select the operating system you want to have installed on the VM in the first drop-down menu, then select which version of that operating system to install. Available operating systems:
- CentOS 64 bit
- CentOS cPanel Sofaculous 64 bit
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Plesk
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012
- Red Hat EL 64 bit
- Ubuntu 64 bit
It is your responsibility to know the Minimum Requirements for the Operating System you intend to use. At this time the hardware sliders are not sensitive to the operating system that you choose and will allow you to configure VMs that are below or far beyond the minimum and/or maximum requirements for the Operating System and/or the software you intend to run on the VM. Optionally, visit these third party sites for information on minimum system requirements for operating systems.
- VCPUs. Select how many Virtual Central Processing Units (VCPUs) to install in the Virtual Machine. You may either move the slider to select, or enter a number in the box given to the right. The slider/box will not let you select an amount that exceeds the allocations allotted to you. You may choose either 1, 2, 4, or 8 VCPUs when creating a configuration.
- Memory (RAM). Select how many Gigabytes of RAM to install in the VM. You may either move the slider to select, or enter a number in the box given to the right. The slider/box will not let you select an amount that exceeds the allocations allotted to you.
- Storage. Select the amount of storage you wish to have installed in the VM. Click on Edit and enter the amount of GB in the Storage Size field.
- Private and Public IP Addresses. You will automatically be assigned a private IP address. You need to manage your IPs when creating the VM.
Note: Every VM must have a Private IP Address. This affords the VM the ability to communicate with other VMs as well as the public Internet (requires a Public IP Address as well).You may not have more than one Private IP Address per VM.
- Tags. Create new or use existing tags.
- Description. Enter a description for your VM in the text box, if desired. This can help you identify the VM and the components. If you have or plan on making a great deal of VMs, we recommend you add a detailed description.
Click Update to confirm the modifications you made.
